Melissa Herman awarded Fulbright to Moldova

Dartmouth’s Melissa Herman has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright teaching fellowship. She will teach academic writing at Alecu Russo Balti State University in the Republic of Moldova during the winter of 2017.

While Moldovans largely speak Romanian and Russian, the graduate students and teachers professor Herman will work with speak English and will benefit from her expertise in the writing and publishing of various academic genres. Herman states that her work will largely consist of helping her Moldovan colleagues with academic papers, grant proposals, and conference presentations. In particular, Herman will help her students understand the different conventions for publishing academic discourse in English.
